Murray County GA was cut out of Cherokee County Georgia in 1832. The cities of Chatsworth and Eton are in the county jurisdiction. Some of the popular attractions are Fort Mountain State Park and part of the Chattahoochee National Forest. The Cohutta wilderness area is a popular place for backpackers and hiking.
Murray County covers more than 340 square miles and has a population of more than 36,000.
